Our History
The fellowship, known as Chester Pentecostal Church, was pioneered by Clifford and Eunice Beasley, who moved from Bethel Temple, Oldbury, and held a first church service in their living room in Kings Crescent East, Great Boughton, on Sunday, 18th January 1976.
It became clear after three months that somewhere larger was necessary and consequently the Penri Welsh Chapel in Gorse Stacks agreed to allow the new fellowship to use their premises on Sunday afternoons and this continued for a period of 9 months.
In January 1977, the fellowship was able to rent accommodation alongside the Fountains Roundabout and remained there until 1986 when it moved to its present premises in Queen Street (formerly a Welsh Methodist Chapel). The Queen Street property needed considerable improvement and on completion, the church changed its name to the Queen Street Christian Centre.
In terms of senior leadership, the church has always pursued a policy of raising up its own leaders. Consequently Clifford Beasley handed on the baton of leadership to Mike Dixon in 1983 and similarly Mike handed over to Roger Jeavons in 1997.
This policy has continued to the present day when Mike Wilson came onto the full time staff of the church to work alongside Roger in September 2008.
Roger leads a team of 6 elders who serve in varying ministry positions within the church.
